UAE President Cup Hydra – Moscow Cup

Moscow- Pais, ridden by V. Cherednikov, ran a cracking race to smash a field of eleven opponents to win the UAE President Cup Hydra – Moscow Cup at the Moscow racecourse on Sunday.

The four-year-old son of Anchar outpaced hot favourite Wambat to emerge the easiest of winners at the finish line.

The race is held under the patronage of His Highness the President and sponsored by Hydra Properties.

Meanwhile, Wambat broke well and set the early pace in the five furlong trip before being tackled by the Samokhina-trained sprinter as the pack turned for home.

"I did expect him to win," said Samokhina later. "Wambat came out very quickly from the machines and showed great speed. This was not a problem for my horse at all. Pais settled well and did the work when it mattered," he added.

In the second race, Diligance made all the running to land the Cup of Russia Hydra for PA over 2800 metres. Ridden by Russia's top jockey A. Kanukaev, Diligance showed his stamina when he was asked the question as the small field of five horses covered the first mile and a half distance and hit the home turn with 400 metres to run.

"He's a great performer," said Cherednikov. "He always impressed me. He's one of the best horses I have rode in my life," he noted.

"We are truly obliged to the strong support we have been receiving from our partners in the United Arab Emirates," said Sergey Efros, president of the Russian National Horse Racing Society.

"The race is achieving great success and improving from one year to another. Now, owners began to send their horses from all over the federation to race in Moscow and we are expecting more participants in the near future," he said.

Efros also welcomed all Arab owners who are interested in acquiring Russian Purebred Arabian horses and take part in the local races.

"We have successfully organised the series of the PA Breeders Cup and the final leg will be held in September," he said.

In the meantime, Sultan Al Marzouqi, secretary general of the UAE Equestrian & Racing Federation said he was astonished by the amazing progress of the President Cup series in Russia.

"I'm delighted to see all these numbers of owners, trainers and horses taking part. We are planning to improve the trophy next year and introduce many other incentives for both owners and racegoers," he promised.

"I would like to thank our partners Hydra Properties for their continued support and wish them every success," he concluded.

Dr. Sulieman Al Fahim, CEO of Hydra Properties said he is pleased to see his company involved in such a great work to promote the UAE and the emirate of Abu Dhabi as well as the Arabian horse races around the globe.
