Lady rider wins 100-km ride


Jameela Ahmad from Al Ain Endurance Stables won the 100-km Abu Dhabi Endurance Cup for privately owned horses and small stables held on Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the Bou Theib Endurance Village.

Jameela was riding 21-year-old Allura Park Star Minoan to finish in the first place and also to win a Nissan car. The duo had finished fifth together in the three-day Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan Festival held at the same venue in January this year. Jameela's average speed was 21.45kmph and she clocked four hours, 40 minutes and 20 seconds.

Abdul Rahman Saleh Al Marzouqi finished second on Fahd in four hours, 348 minutes and 19 second and Abdul Aziz Al Redha finished third on Mafalda De Bellevue in four hours, 54 minutes and 31 seconds.

 
Sheikha Latifa wins in Capital event


Sheikha Latifa bint Ahmed Al Maktoum won the primary show jumping competition held at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club premises on February 21 and 22, 2008 respectively.

Sheikha Latifa won the first place in Class 3: B1, A2 (One Round with Jump Off) riding Covers Pride from the Emirates Equestrian Centre. She clocked 31.40 seconds.

Second place went to Adel Khamis Ali Saeed who was riding Katy D'Isignvy from Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, who recorded 33.55 seconds. Third place went to Rebecca who partnered Special Delivery from Zaabeel Stables. Her timing was 34.14 seconds.

A total number of 15 riders participated in this event and five riders were placed, other two being Muftha Jawhar Al Dhahiri and Majed Sultan Al Awani, both from Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club.

The competitions were organized by the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation and they held during weekends in different emirates.

Five Endurance Rides for weekend


The weekend will witness five endurance rides at the Bou Theib Endurance Village, Al Khatem, Abu Dhabi.

The UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation, in coordination with the Emirates Heritage Club and the Bou Theib Endurance Village Organising Committee, is organizing these rides on Feb 29 and March 1, 2008.

Friday will witness the CEI 2-start 100-km ride Abu Dhabi International Cup for Juniors and young riders. Over 40 youngsters are likely to participate in this ride which will be run in four phases of 30 km, 30 km, 24 km and 16 km respectively.

The day will also feature tow Federation Qualifying rides of 80 km and 44 km respectively. Over eighty riders have confirmed their participation for the qualifiers.

Saturday will host two rides including CEI three-star 120-km Abu Dhabi Endurance International Cup, which will run in five phases of 30 km, 30 km, 24 km, 20 km and 16 km respectively. The second ride of the day will be 100-km Abu Dhabi Endurance Cup for Privately Owned Horses which will be run in four loops of 30 km, 30 km, 24 km and 16 km respectively.
