Clinch top places in Syrian ride

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minster and Dubai Ruler, and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, crown Prince of Dubai, won the top honours in the 120-km endurance ride in Damascus held on May 31, 2008.
The ride was jointly organized by the Dubai Equestrian Club and the Syrian Arab equestrian Federation.

From the beginning His Highness Sheikh Mohammed and Sheikh Hamdan dominated the ride which was participated by 170 riders from the UAE and Syria.

Other UAE riders came third, fourth and fifth respectively.
Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Society, also participated in the ride.

At the end of the ride, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed issued instructions for the organizers to award the championship cash prize to Syrian rider who finished on top. He also ordered that cash prizes be awarded to Syrian riders who had participated in endurance events this season. This was to encourage them to pursue their training and take up equestrian sports as a profession and thereby earn qualification for future long-distance rides.
