Show Jumping panel Meets in Abu Dhabi
New criterion for outside participation
The committee members of the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation Show Jumping panel met at the Federation premises in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, December 21, 2004, to discuss various topics related to the sport.
Hussein Mohammed Hussein, Secretary General of the Federation, Adnan Sultan Al Nuaimi, Sultan Mohammed Khalifa, Saeed Abdullah Galadari and Ahmed Atiq Al Rumaithi, attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed the forthcoming FEI World Cup Arab League Qualifiers which be held at Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman in January. Being the host country the committee decided to send two teams for the qualifiers. On the sidelines of these qualifiers, it has also been decided to hold a seminar for stewards.
The committee has decided to set up a new criterion for selection of show jumpers for the international competitions. According to this, the jumpers will be selected solely based on their performances during the current season in various competitions in the UAE.
The committee has also decided to send UAE show jumping teams to Qatar International Show Jumping Championships to be held in Doha from February 6 to 13, 2005, King of Bahrain Show Jumping Championship to be held in Manama from February 23 to 25, 2005 and the Saudi Arabian Show Jumping Championship to be held in Jeddah from April 9 to 14, 2005. The competitions in Qatar and Bahrain will be the qualifiers for FEI World Cup Arab League. 
Bu Deeb Endurance Competition
for Juniors & Young Riders On Thursday
The first endurance ride for Young Riders and Juniors of the season will be held at the Bu Deeb Endurance Village, Al Khatem, Abu Dhabi, on Thursday, December 23, 2004. The ride is open to all qualified horses aged six and above and to be ridden by qualified riders aged between 14 and 21 years.

Over 50 riders have already confirmed their participation in the ride including Sheikh Juma Dalmook J. Al Maktoum, Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum, Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Khalifa Al Maktoum, Sheikh Abdullah bin Faisal Al Qassimi and Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Faizal Al Qassimi. |
There are several other local and international riders who are vying in the competition.
The CEI, Two-star, 100-km ride will be run in four stages of 30 km, 33km, 22km and 15 km respectively with the ride expected to begin at 6.30 am on the scheduled day. The ride is being organized by the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation. The Bu Deeb Endurance Village is the second endurance village in Abu Dhabi and the third in the UAE. The village is patronized by Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Emirates Heritage Club.
The Emirates Heritage Club is closely involved in the development of several traditional and cultural activities and sports in the country, including endurance riding. The club also provides vital training facilities for children in the UAE and the opening of its modern and excellently planned endurance village has been welcomed by the equestrian fraternity as an important step in the development and teaching of endurance riding in the UAE.
Though similar in many ways to the UAE's other endurance venues, Emirates International Endurance Village, Al Wathba in Abu Dhabi and Dubai Endurance city, Seih Assalem in Dubai, Bu Deeb takes the riders through forest area, as part of the route, which adds variety.
The Bu Deeb Endurance Village, which is part of the Emirates Heritage Club, officially opened its doors this year on April 1 by hosting the 83-km Bu Deeb Endurance Trophy for riders between 12-18 years of age. As many as 44 youngsters got off to a mass start and 19 of them crossed the finish line.
Bu Deep is located past Al Wathba on the left side of the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain highway. One can also reach the Bu Deep endurance Village from different emirates by following these directions:
From Abu Dhabi- On Al Ain Road at exit for Zayed Military City, turn left and follow sings. From Dubai- On Abu Dhabi Road at Al Mafraq bridge take exit to Al Ain Road and continue up to exit for Zayed Military City, turn left and follow signs. From Al Ain- On Abu Dhabi Road at Al Khatem bridge exit right and follow signs.

Dhaheri back in Winning spree
Mufta Al Dhaheri reemerged as the top rider at the weekend show jumping events held on December 16 and 17, 2004, at the Ajman Equestrian Centre, Ajman. Though the principal competition for A1 riders was dominated by top riders, it was once again Dhaheri, from the Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club, who was invincible. Riding Ikea 3, he proved difficult to catch on time and his two wonderful rounds assured him of the winner's podium. In the last weekend's competitions held in Dubai, Dhaheri had moved over to the second place.

Mohammed Al Kumeiti from the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, won in Class 2 for A2 riders riding Djabolo 244. However in the Class 3, A1 category, Kumeiti had to be content in the second place.Nadia Taryam, always regarded as a superb horsewoman, dominated the B riders' section and recorded two outright wins in Cass 5 B1

and Class 3 B 2 sections by winning the first places. Nadia Taryam, from Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Centre, was riding Coralle 26 for both the events.
Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Deputy Ruler of Ajman, was among the several dignitaries and Sheikhs who witnessed the competitions. Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, President of the Ajman Equestrian Centre, made extraordinary facilities at the show jumping arena which also contributed to the success of the two-day event.
As part of its drive to promote the discipline in the UAE, The UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation sponsored the events. Hussein Mohammed Hussein, Secretary General of the Federation, said: " The Equestrian and Racing Federation is extremely grateful to Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi for the use of his excellent Club facilities and grounds. It has been clearly evidenced here that with such facilities and organization our riders demonstrate their prowess in this discipline".
