Federation Qualifiers

The UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation had organised two Federation Qualification rides at the Emirates International Endurance Village, Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi, on Sunday, December 12, 2004.

As many as 32 riders started the 80-km ride which was run in three stages of 30km, 30km and 26 km. Of these, 21 horses/riders qualified. In the second Qualifier of 41km, as many as 98 riders participated and 75 horses/riders qualified. The second qualifier was run in two phases of 30 km and 21 km respectively. The rides started at 6.30 am and 7.30 am respectively.

The qualifiers featured riders from different countries including Spain, India, Morocco, Bangladesh, South Africa, Switzerland, Slovakia, Egypt, Canada, Germany, Yemen, Ireland, Oman, Pakistan, Great Britain, Iran, Sudan, Australia, Italy and Ireland apart from a huge representation from the UAE.

The qualifier rides are organised at regular intervals by the UAE Equestrian Federation to help riders and horses to qualify themselves to ride in higher category rides. Mohammed Al Owais Wins Principle competition

The first endurance ride for Young Riders and Juniors of the season will be held at the Bu Deeb Endurance Village, Al Khatem, Abu Dhabi, on Thursday, December 23, 2004. The ride is open to all qualified horses aged six and above and to be ridden by qualified riders aged between 14 and 21 years.

Mohammed A Al Owais from the Al Safinat Stables put up a brilliant display by winning two competitions including the principle one, at the weekend show jumping events held on December 9 and 10, 2004, at the Emirates Riding Centre, Dubai. As part of its drive to promote the discipline in the UAE, The UAE
Equestrian and Racing Federation sponsored the events. Hussein Mohammed Hussein, Secretary General of the Federation, said: "We are very pleased to sponsor these competitions as part of our efforts to advance the standard of show jumping in our country".

In the main event of the day, Class-9, A1, (One Round with Jump-off,) Mohammed Al Owais was riding Great Boy 1 to clinch the first place and he was riding Degenhardt's Capriso to get the first place in Class 8-B1/A2 (One round with jump-off, senior section). The rider showed both consistency and talent in capturing the prizes. Mohammed Al Kumeiti from the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Centre was placed second riding Ivamantis in Class 9, A1 category.

On Thursday's main event, a Class 4, A2- in Line Competition, Ahmed Ameen from the Ajman Equestrian Centre won the first place riding Caleeto. Ahmed, one of the UAE's top riders, displayed his talent and that of his horse to great advantage and was clear winner of "Play of the Day". In the same category, second place went to Kamal Ziri from the Abu Dhabi Mounted Police, who was riding Hopla II.

Class 8-B1/A2 (One round with jump-off, Junior Section): Saif Omar Thabit, 1st place (Amandita HV)

Class 8-B2/A2 (One round with jump-off, Senior Section): Nicolas Chagneau, second place (Illimane)

Class 10-C1/B2 (One round with jump-off, Junior Section): Rashid Mohd. Al Rumaithi, 1st place (Hartley de Boissy), Saif Sultan bin Dhahi, 2nd place (Cassara Z)

Class 10-C1/B2 (One round with jump-off): Senior Section: Hamad Ali Al Kirbi, 1st place (Genial IV), Mohd. Shafi Al Rumaithi, 2nd place, (Quartzy II)

Class 1-D (Clear Round Jumping): Sofia Uchoa, 1st place (Abber)

Class 2-B2 (Special Two Phases- Juniors): Bader Nasser Al Zaabi, 1st place (Icard des Bois)

Class 2-B2 (Special Two Phases- Seniors): Hamad Ali Al Kirbi (Genial IV)

Class 3-C2 (Special Two Phases -Juniors): Ahmed Nabil Falaknaz, 1st place (Bashair), Mohammed Y. Al Nowais, 2nd place (Jenune Boy)

Class 3-C2 (Special Two Phases -Seniors): Ali Mohd. Al Marzouqi, 1st place, (Fatna), Obaid Saeed Al Shar, 2nd place, (Donna)

Class 5-B1/A2 (One round with jump-off): Mohammed Al Kumeiti, 1st place (Ivamantis), Mufta Al Dhaheri, 2nd place, (Ikea 3)

Class 6 D (Clear Round Jumping): Saqer Sultan Yahyaei, 1st place, (Burkhan), Kimberly Reader, 2nd place (Silly Season). Show Jumping competitions continue next weekend at the Ajman Equestrian Centre.
Two Federation Qualifiers On December 12

The UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation is organizing two Federation Qualifiers on Sunday, December 12, 2004, at the Emirates International Endurance Village, Al Wathba, Abu Dhabi.

The 80-km qualifier will be run in three stages of 30 km, 30 km and 20 km respectively while the 41-km second qualifier will be run in two stages of 30 km and 11 km respectively. Both the rides are scheduled to have a mass start at 6.30 am.

Over 80 riders/horses have confirmed their participation for the 41-km ride and over 30 entries have been accepted by the Federation for the 80-km ride.

The qualifier rides are organised at regular intervals by the UAE Federation to help riders and horses to qualify themselves to ride in higher category rides.

During the rides, whips spurs and long reins are not allowed. Giving water or assistance of any kind from inside a car is forbidden. No crewing is allowed inside the vet gate and only two persons are permitted to bring the horse into the vet area. Any horse retired after the start must be shown to an official ride veterinarian before it leaves the venue.
