Sheikh Shakhboot wins Ras Al Khaimah
Show jumping event

Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan won the first place in the Class 3: B1, A2 category show jumping champion ship held over the weekend at the Ras Al Khaimah Equestrian Club. Riding Tinka Bell, Sheikh Shakhboot, from the Emirates Heritage Club, finished One Round with Jump-Off in 34.18 seconds without any faults.

Second place went to Abdullah Humaid from Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club. Humaid finished the round in 34.35 seconds riding Tip Top, with no faults. Third place went to Adel Khamis from Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club who clocked 37.66 seconds astride E'Clair Day, with four faults.

As many as 39 riders participated in this show jumping event, organized by the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation. While 13 riders withdrew, seven riders were placed and five riders were eliminated. In another event of equal significance, Class 6: B1, A2 (One Round with Jump-Off), Sulaiman Al Anbar clinched the first position. Sulaiman from the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club cleared the rounds in 37.49 seconds riding Rawthah. Second place was bagged by Hamad Ali Al Kirbi, also from the Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club. He was riding Antika Joter. Majed Sultan Al Awani from the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club managed to finish third riding Katarina.

CLASS 2: C2 (Speed Class):
1. Salim Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Natali, Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, 52.28 seconds,
2. Rashid Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Icard De Bois, Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, 52.80 seconds,
3. Salim Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Suzuki Ratkerani, Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, 57.15 seconds. 45 riders participated, six riders were placed and 20 riders withdrew

CLASS 5: C1 (One Round with Jump-Off):
1. Salim Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Natali, Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, 28.03 seconds,
2. Salim Khamis Al Suwaidi, Heros De Sedi, Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, 32.90 seconds,
3. Salim Ahmed Al Suwaidi, O'Neil My Immortal, Sharjah Equestrian and Racing Club, 32.90 seconds. 39 riders competed, five were placed and 15 withdrew.

Emirates Show Jumping Championship
in Capital From April 19-21

The eighth Emirates Show Jumping Championships will be held at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club in Abu Dhabi from April 19 to April 21, 2007. The Championships are being organised by the UAE Equestrian and Racing Federation.

The Championships comprise two/three competitions, each taking place on a different day. The total penalties incurred at the end of the competitions will count to determine the final placing. Riders eliminated or retired from any round cannot participate in subsequent rounds. Only one horse per rider may be entered for the Championships. No substitutes (horse or rider) are allowed.


Champions 2006

The first competition (for A and B riders only) is conducted over big Table A course. There will be a draw for the starting order of all participants. The scores obtained by each competitor will be converted into points and the competitor with the lowest number of points after this conversion will be given zero penalties, the other competitors being credited with the number of penalties representing the difference in points between each of the and the leading rider.

The second competition (For A and B riders only) is conducted over one round under Table A not against the clock. The starting order will follow the reverse order of points obtained in the first competitions. Championship classes for A and B riders are confined to UAE nationals only.

Top-level show jumpers from all over the country will be vying for honours in the National Championship, which is sponsored by Hydra Properties.

Three prizes have been set aside for each category at the National Show Jumping Championship. Following is the list of prizes:

The Championship will also include FEI International Children's Qualifiers, sponsored by UAE Equestrian Federation. In the Children's Qualifiers, the first day will host Class No 4. Category B Competition No 1 Round 1 (fences 110 cm, Max. speed 325m/m), and Class No 5. Category A Competitions No 1 Round 1 (fences 120 cm, Max. speed 350 m/m. The second day will have Final of the Class no 10. Cat. B Competition No. 2 Round (fences 100 cm, max speed 325 m/m) and also the finals of the Class no 11. Category A competition No 2 Round No 1. (Fences 110 cm, max speed 350 m/m).


Champions 2006 "Juniors"

As part of the Championship, the UAE Equestrian Federation is also sponsoring a Combined Training in Dressage, Cross Country and Show Jumping on April 19. The Combined Training reflects the participation of the UAE team at Asiad Games in Doha and the ongoing commitment by the UAE Equestrian Federation to pursue disciplines. Lt. Col Ronnie Macmahon, Head of the Show Jumping Department at the Federation, himself a three-time Olympic participant in Eventing, will be monitoring the day's performances. He says: "Development of combined training in the UAE will benefit all disciplines in general and Eventing in particular."

The officials for the Championship include Lt. Col. Ronnie Macmahon, National Federation Representative, Ms. Lisa Hareb, Jury President, Aziz Haroum and Ms Christine Grouber, Judges, Khalid Abdul Kareem, Steward, Yousif Al Mahmoudi, Course Designer and Dr. C.V. Niranjan, Veterinarian.
